Meeting on recovery plan set for Lahaina | News, Sports, Jobs

The Maui County Council’s Government Relations, Ethics and Transparency Committee will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Lahaina Civic Center to take more testimony on a proposal to create a recovery and resiliency plan in response to the August wildfires.

No legislative action will be taken. The committee also met in Kaanapali on Sept. 27 to take testimony. Council Member Nohe U’u-Hodgins, who chairs the committee, has said that the testimony will help the council’s committees decide what legislation to work on. Her committee will meet Oct. 30-Nov. 2 to discuss the feedback.

To allow focus on in-person testifiers, testimony by phone or videoconference won’t be available Wednesday. Akaku will provide live TV coverage.

County shuttle transportation to the meeting will be provided between: Lahaina Civic Center, Westin Maui Resort and Spa, Aston Kaanapali Shores, Honua Kai, Aston Kaanapali Villas, Royal Lahaina, Kaanapali Beach Resort, Whalers Village and Hyatt Regency.

For pickup times, call Roberts Hawaii at (808) 871-6226.
