BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — For many new businesses planning on opening this spring, shutting down immediately after opening was not part of the plan.
Two fashion boutiques, Salt By Pepper in Boise and Flor Del Sol in Eagle had to reschedule their grand openings due to COVID-19.
Downtown clothing store Salt By Pepper had its grand opening on March 5, but unfortunately had to close two weeks later due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The contemporary fashion boutique decided to speed up the launch of the online store during lockdown.
“We originally weren’t planning on doing the online store right away. We were gonna let the brick and mortar take off. We were able to push our online sale set up pretty quickly," said Pepper Pothier, owner of Salt by Pepper. "It’s still kind of hard, because we didn’t have an opportunity to build a clientele. We weren’t able to get ourselves established, so not too many people know about us quite yet."
After traveling the world, Pepper and her husband decided to return home to Idaho. She says her goal is to bring new and different fashions and lines to Idaho. Her store is now open again.
Flor De Sol Boutique originally opened in March, but had to postpone the store’s grand opening to July.
"I created a multi-generational store so moms and daughters could have an experience together," said Elaine Fredriksson, owner of Flor De Sol. "You’ll have to come to our grand opening on July 9, we will have hors d'oeuvres, champagne and a jazz band.”
The two owners want to thank the community for the solidarity and support they’ve received during this time.
